چکیده

A time-domain method to calculate the buffeting response of a rectangular tall building (AR B/D = 1.5 and H/D 6) in along-wind, across-wind torsional degrees freedom using 2D aerodynamic sectional properties is presented here. The were identified first wind tunnel section models. Aerodynamic damping, which critical wind-induced analysis buildings, was calculated aeroelastic derivatives (flutter derivatives) validated by comparing with those extracted directly from measurements models building. good agreement between numerically simulated responses experimental an model (1:175 scale) shows capability proposed prediction generalized 3DOF buildings wide range speeds. Furthermore, two other cross-sectional shapes, circular elliptical, developed compared amongst three shapes study effect cross on response. relative dependency along each section, speed as well angle attack assessed. Finally, taper building’s studied showed that could significantly reduce buildings. assess loads based experimentally or theoretically derived two-dimensional sections, here, provides viable perhaps only alternative methods tests CFD simulations.

Aerodynamic Admittance Function of Tall Buildings

The aerodynamic admittance function (AAF) has been widely invoked to relate wind pressures on building surfaces to the oncoming wind velocity. In current practice, strip and quasi-steady theories are generally employed in formulating wind effects in the along-wind direction. These theories permit the representation of the wind pressures on building surfaces in terms of the oncoming wind velocit...

Aerodynamic Loads on Tall Buildings: Interactive Database

Under the action of wind, tall buildings oscillate simultaneously in the alongwind, acrosswind, and torsional directions. While the alongwind loads have been successfully treated using quasi-steady and strip theories in terms of gust loading factors, the acrosswind and torsional loads cannot be treated in this manner, since these loads cannot be related in a straightforward manner to the fluctu...

Time Domain Flutter and Buffeting Response Analysis

A time domain approach for predicting the coupled flutter and buffeting response of long span bridges is presented. The frequency dependent unsteady aerodynamic forces are represented by the convolution integrals involving the aerodynamic impulse function and structural motions or wind fluctuations. The aerodynamic impulse functions are derived from experimentally measured flutter derivatives, ...
